Everyone has untapped potential

Whether we recognize it or not, everyone, everyone, has untapped potential. In the midst of disagreement, conflict, board meetings, mergers, and leadership transitions we often lose sight of opportunity and potential. As we are engaged in the day to day operations of a synagogue, tensions seem to be everywhere, or anywhere. Whether in  budgeting, membership renewal, membership retention, fundraising, program development, education, ritual, clergy, relationships, or strategic planning we often are struggling to build bridges towards successful outcomes.

Sometimes we are able to separate the people from the problem, and sometimes the people are the problem.  Recognizing issues before they arise, learning to listen, and Embracing Conflict, will provide us tools towards a healthier synagogue...

"In a controversy, the instant we feel anger, we have already ceased striving for truth and have begun striving for ourselves."

                                 Abraham Joshua Heschel
