MITCH GORDON
Founder, Mediator, Facilitator, Trainer

Gesher: Building Bridges and The Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution and Training were founded by director and lead trainer, Mitchell A. Gordon. Mitch brings 30 years of experience in mediation, meditation, management, martial arts and music to a unique and powerful program of training, conflict resolution, and resource development. At Gesher, he brings specialized trainings for Jewish organizations, with insights and tools rooted in practical experience pedagogy, and informed by Jewish tradition. He developed a specialized curriculum called Embracing Conflict: Tools for a Healthier Synagogue as the foundation for this work.

Mitch has served on dozens of local, national and international Boards of Directors; served in leadership positions as CEO, executive director, and advancement/fund raising officer in nonprofit organizations; and has consulted with nonprofit organizations and NGOs locally and internationally.  Mitch worked closely with the late Professor Roger Fisher, at Conflict Management Group and Harvard Program on Negotiation (Fisher was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize during that time). Mr. Gordon is the only consultant bringing these skills and tools used in international settings and Fortune 500 companies, to nonprofit management, mediation, conflict resolution, fund raising, and philanthropy specifically to Jewish based organizations.

Mitch has been a member of Congregation B'nai Shalom in Westborough, MA since 2002.  There he served on the membership, music, Rabbi search, and communications committee and was president of the Brotherhood for 4 years. He has attended and helped to plan programs at the Jewish Men's Retreat at the Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center, and is a lay leader, Jewish meditation leader and Temple drummer, and received smicha as Drummer of the Holy Temple from Akiva Wharton in 2013 through Reb Zalman. Mitch is also an active member of the Hineini Renewal community led by davening leader Daniel Sheff, and is a member of the DLTI 8 cohort group.

Currently, Mitch is adjunct faculty at Hebrew College and is also engaged teaching Torah and prayer Hebrew at local religious schools in the Massachusetts.

Make it a Bridge

Music by Steve Meltzer

Lyrics adapted from Sheldon Young

Kol haolam kulo gesher tzar m'od

There is a wall
Standing between us
A wall so thick
That pounding just won't do
If we move close
And touch it gently
We can part the wall
And make it a bridge

"Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret." Ambrose Bierce
